Sunfire, also known as Shiro Yoshida, is a Marvel Comics superhero. He first appeared in *X-Men* #64 (January 1970), created by Roy Thomas and Don Heck.
Shiro is a Japanese mutant possessing the ability to convert solar radiation into plasma. He can then emit this plasma as blasts of heat and light, giving him powers analogous to the sun. He can also fly by generating a superheated plasma wake behind him.
Initially, Sunfire was portrayed as arrogant and fiercely patriotic, often clashing with the X-Men. However, he has occasionally allied with them, and even briefly joined the team, demonstrating moments of heroism.
